Vegan, Cruelty free, 5 free. What does all this mean?

Ok so starting with Vegan Polish and Cruelty Free. These pretty much go hand and hand. You don’t want one without the other. This simply means that the product has not been tested on any animals or wild life and no animal has been mistreated in the process of making it.  Vegan polish also don’t contain any animal ingredients. Yes I am sure many people think that it’s cute when they see animals with their nails painted but, in testing sites many animals are being mistreated and abused in the process. When using the chemicals that are in some polish it could be harmful to the animal as well especially if the chemical is to strong.

Ok so what exactly is 5 free? Well there are 5 major toxins that are in nail polish. They are Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin, Toluene, Dibutyl Phthalate, Camphor. These are some long scientific words so what are they exactly?

•         Formaldehyde: Is a Carcinogen which is directly connected to the cause of cancer. This chemical is used as a preservative in nail polish.

•         Formaldehyde Resin: This ingredient is also used as a preservative and hardener inside the polis. This chemical is not a toxin but, it is a allergen that is directly connected to causing leukemia.

•         Toluene: This toxin has gotten a lot of press because it causes birth defects, it is very harmful to inhale, and it also damages your nervous system. They use it in nail polish as a solvent that nail polish Company’s use dissolve their pigments.

•         Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP): This is used so that materials are able to keep their shape. This product is so dangerous that it is actually banned in other countries. Dbp causes harm to your reproductive system and also in your liver.

•         Camphor: This is a poison and is used in nail polish but, you may also see it as an ingredient to kill bugs. This is even more dangerous for pregnant women, children, or anyone with liver disease to use
